The Magical Son

In Northern England in the early 1960s, Frank Machin is mean, tough and ambitious enough to become an immediate star in the rugby league team run by local employer Weaver.

Attempting to forge a deeper connection with her estranged father, who is grappling with dementia, a young woman prepares foods that evoke memories of his Jamaican childhood.

Overwhelmed by fury and delight, a woman burns her clothes, her photographs, and souvenirs. She cuts her hair, and in front of a mirror, chooses a new name: Emma. From hereon, she fabricates a new life for herself.

A young girl returns home to an empty apartment. She gets invited on a date but she has to finish her chores first. This would be very easy for her, but her addiction makes it a struggle.
