One river, three generations, countless failures. In the late 1950s, a group of people living along the Qiantang River fought against fearsome tides for their respective beliefs.

Due to a family tragedy, He Daming severed ties with his father and left his hometown, never to return for decades. Years later, terminally ill, he embarks on a journey home with his wife by his side, hoping to see his father one last time before he dies.

In order to better support the blind mother of his fallen comrade, Kong Wanshan voluntarily gives up the preferential treatment policy granted by the state and settled at the foot of Mount Tai. There, in his twilight years, he finds the abandoned baby, named Shanxi.
