Puek, a boy from the slums, had no choice but to endure his circumstances, feeling that he could never have the same worth as others. He remained silent, accepting the bullying of others just to survive in society.

When her eight-year-old daughter suddenly loses her mother tongue after the death of Gee, her Burmese maid, her mother, Da, is convinced the child has retained a mysterious bond with Gee’s spirit. The two travel to Ranong, a Thai-Burmese border town, in search of Gee’s only relative. There, through a local Burmese doctor, they encounter the world of Burmese labourers and find themselves on a spiritual and psychological exploration of their own lives.

In a small town, Piak, Pao and Samor train under Pao's father who is a Muay Thai fighter. However, fate leads them to Bangkok where Piak and Samor join the underworld while Pao becomes a boxer.

Pod decides to change jobs after losing his finger at a sardine packing plant. His new job as a security guard comes with an unexpected perk in the form of a lanky maid who carries a mysterious white book.
