Amrum Island, Spring 1945. In the final days of the war, 12-year-old Nanning braves the treacherous sea to hunt seals, goes fishing at night, and works the nearby farm to help his mother feed the family. Despite the hardship, life on the beautiful, windswept island almost feels like paradise. But when peace finally comes, it reveals a deeper threat: the enemy is far closer than he imagined.

Freddy Kleemann from Constance, who has moved to Berlin involuntarily, doesn't get much of the capital city feeling. While his heavily pregnant wife Juliana feels abandoned by him, his business partner Lara wants more commitment from her daycare center. Not only do the children need to accept the innovative concept with quiet rooms more readily, but the parents' tempers are also running high, much to Freddy's chagrin. His father Fritz, who suffers from dementia, worries him greatly. Freddy senses that the joint search for the right facility could be the last conscious father-and-son project. Accordingly, he wants to take his time and savor the intense moments. Freddy's mother-in-law Regina is supposed to provide relief for the Kleemanns. She likes to be there for others, but would like to be pampered again herself. Perhaps a new acquaintance would do her good? That's what her grandchildren Zoë and Niko think when they secretly register their grandma on a dating platform...

After taking several years off to have children, nurse Clara Horn returns to work and begins to feel the effects of the much tougher daily routine at the clinic - pressure, stress and tension are the order of the day. But she soon realizes that there is much more going on in her clinic: Apparently, one of her colleagues is deliberately killing patients. Clara must overcome not only her own doubts, but also massive resistance among her colleagues in order to convict the perpetrator, Rico Weber.

Freddy and his wife Juliana leave the comfort zone of Constance and move to Berlin. With Grandpa Fritz in tow, the Kleemanns move in with Grandma Regina. Unlike his sister Zoe, little Niko is happy to be living with his grandparents. While Freddy and his trusted colleague Lara finally want to implement their own concept as daycare center managers, Juliana sees an unexpected stop sign in her career as a doctor: she is unplanned pregnant! Now a difficult life decision has to be made: a third child does not fit into the current family and couple concept of two full-time professionals.

When Borchert receives an anonymous message that a certain Franz Brosi is innocent, law firm boss Dominique can hardly believe it. After all, Brosi was her first client as a public defender a few years ago and had actually confessed. The two are investigating the case.

Gisela and Werner Bauer are shocked: shortly before the wedding to their only son Sebastian, dream daughter-in-law Jana has pulled the ripcord. She desperately lacks passion in her long-term relationship with the down-to-earth but somewhat comfortable Sebastian, which has become routine. While he reacts helplessly, his parents, who know that their ancestor and the long-established Bavarian carpentry business are in the best of hands with Jana, decide to take the plunge.

Kate has been in a witness protection program for years because she testified against her own criminal husband Ted Kinnock, putting him behind bars. She lives with her now grown-up son Channing in the county of Cornwall in England. Her son falls in love with young Rachel, the daughter of an aristocratic family. Her parents immediately disapprove of the relationship, as they do not consider Channing worthy of their daughter. When Channing accidentally calls an old contact of his mother's called Dave, events come to a head: Dave was Kate's contact at the police station, but they both fell in love with each other. The policeman now rushes to the island to protect the love of his life, because Ted Kinnock has been released from prison early and is out for revenge.
