Claudi in Budapest. They spend happy days in Vienna. In Prague, the printing workers go on strike. Adrienne fights alongside the workers and Robert Kalivoda. She experiences class struggle with her cousin Guido Frank. Alexander tries to introduce Irene to the family.

Berlin, 1948: Paralyzed and robbed of her memory, Fleur regains consciousness after a serious fall. The doctor treating her recognizes that her problem is of a psychological nature and encourages her to face up to her past. The daughter of a brothel owner is reluctant to look back: on a hapless childhood, her relationships with bon vivant Dr. Goldner and the politically committed locksmith Philipp (Hilmar Thate) as well as the difficult period of fascism... This exciting journey into the German past is based on Dinah Nelken's novel "Das angstvolle Heldenleben einer gewissen Fleur Lafontaine".

Dr. Zacharias is an experienced and demanding woman. She sees her daughter Manuela as the continuation and fulfillment of her own life. She wants her daughter to achieve as much or more than her, and under the easier conditions of the present time. But Manuela does not seem to be the type who can fulfill this aspiration, as she is superficial and stubborn. Manuela is even expelled from the university for cheating. But even now she seems unwilling to recognize her mistakes and turn her life around.

Margit Köhler is stressed and annoyed at constantly having to clean up after her husband and grown-up children. She wants to take a little break from her everyday life as a housewife over the weekend. She asks her brother Walter Riedel to look after her apartment and her family during this time. But for Margit's husband Gerhard, housekeeping is a foreign concept and doesn't want to believe what his brother-in-law is now telling him. He had been in such a good mood until this moment and now this - no dinner ready. The three children are a little more understanding, but don't feel like getting into the kitchen either. To Gerhard's annoyance, the fridge is empty and he can't even find his beloved after-work beer. But going shopping himself on Friday is beneath him. He also has to repair the television for his neighbor Reuter.
