Mauro Hernandez, a young preventive policeman, gets involved in a coke deal, and to keep some of the money he has for paying for the transaction, gives his gun away to cover the deal. He argues to Joaquin, old drug dealer and ex-policeman and ends up threatening him. On his way out of the operation, Mauro and his partner policemen, a gang controlled by Joaquin, stop their way out start a wrangle where Mauro is wounded. His body armor couldn´t even stop a small touch of the knife. The scandal on the bad quality of body armors turns into an investigation of malversation of police funds which is exaggerated and misreported by the media. Apparently made in 2009, but not released until 2011.

It is a tale taut with intrigue and steeped in Latino mysticism, where the line between what's real and what's imagined becomes hopelessly blurred.

Lucia is a Mexican girl from a poor town who sets her mind to cross the border to The United States to find her son's father who she hasn't heard from in years. On the road she meets Fernanda, a high middle class girl that has unresolved issues with her ex-boyfriend and is willing to travel hundreds of miles to resolve them once and for all. Lucia and Fernanda are two girls from two very different social backgrounds, yet they travel the same road hoping to reconnect with the men they love. But it seems destiny has brought them together in their individual quests to share a path, to know each other and to know themselves a little better and discover if happiness is at their destinations.

Glasgow-based artist Phil Collins’s film Soy Mi Madre examines the immigrant populations of Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley, a sizable percentage of which hail from northwestern Mexico. The region relies heavily on service and maintenance work provided largely through this population, who often commute to work in Aspen. Loosely inspired by Jean Genet’s The Maids—a seminal example of Theatre of the Absurd that renders surreal the intricate power dynamics that exist between people of divergent socioeconomic groups and exploits the volatility of social identity—Soy Mi Madre portrays the social realities of this region through the melodramatic lens of the telenovela. Reproduced in this volume through a generous selection of stills, the film uses popular Mexican television actors and crew, including Patricia Reyes Spindola, Zaide Silvia Guitérrez, Veronica Langer, and Salvador Parra, as well as members of the transsexual prostitute community of Mexico City.
