The Soviet-Hungarian film version of the biography of one of the most talented composers of our time, the classic of the Vienna operetta - Imre Kálmán, known for all his music for operettas "The Csárdás Princess", "Countess Maritza", "The Circus Princess", "The Violet of Montmartre", "Die Bajadere" and many others. The music of Imre Kálmán has no equal in operetta for its festivity, “elegance”, and the refinement of melodics and orchestration.

Examining magistrate Sévigné wants to make a career in Paris, mainly at the urging of his wife. She is assigned to investigate a murder case, the victim was a maid, the accused was the maid. The examining magistrate, against his orders, believes in her innocence and starts a thorough investigation. The interrogations reveal who the real murderer is.

This film takes place in Paris and Geneva in the 1530s and 1550s. Kálvin János and Szervét Mihály are school mates in Paris. The university students celebrate the victory of the Reformation with Kálvin's "Institution", written under a pseudonym.

László is a composer, and his second wife is an actress. The couple lives in love and cheerful, mutual understanding. Suddenly László feels unwell. The diagnosis is that he suffers from an incurable illness.

Iván Berend is a nobleman from the countryside, owner of considerable wealth. If necessary, he duels and plays cards like his fellow gentry, if necessary, he dances and compliments like most cavaliers. But far from him is this high life. He prefers to lecture on natural history, and does not hesitate to prove his claims by burning a diamond. He runs the Bondavar mine and experiments on a fire extinguishing agent. A young man offers his services through a newspaper advertisement: Mr Psimth takes care of everything. A man approaches him and asks him to steal his aunt's precious brilliant necklace. Mr.Psmith arrives at the castle and realises that all the guests there want the jewels. The young man exposes the company and takes a wife instead of the necklace.

In modern Hungary, con artist Bender Oszkár and his motley crew - Barangó and a band of small-time schemers - embark on a series of outrageous scams to track down an “illegal” millionaire and seize ten million for themselves. As they exploit every trick in the book - fake charities, crooked roulette tables, forged documents - their madcap pursuit of easy riches exposes the absurdities and corruptions of contemporary life, with Bender’s fate hanging on whether his “great maneuver” will pay off or blow up in his face.

Two arts students, András and Viktor who are writing their thesis on detective stories, make up a story and keep nagging the famous film-director, who just came back from Hollywood, until he undertakes the job. At night they work on the film, in which two youths kill a director returning from the US. In the morning the director is found dead - a knife in his back.

The musical adventure film goes back to the early eighteenth century, the times of the battles between the Hungarian insurrectionists and the pro-Austrians. Palkó and Jankó are about to join the insurrectionist army when they clash with a pro-Austrian troop. Jankó is captured and put in Count Koháry's prison.

The film, paying a tribute to the memory of Endre Ságvári, a Communist hero, goes back to the summer of 1944. Through Colonel Gombos-Götz who has recognised that the Nazi-Germans will be ultimately defeated, Ságvári, the leader of the Young Communist Workers' Association asks Csiszár, the commander of the barracks in Andrássy street to provide him with guns to help release the Communist prisoners in Tata.
