A misunderstood youth is incorrectly placed in a mental hospital.

Based on a popular 1931 play, the film tells the fate of a naive young woman named Marianne, who breaks off her reluctant engagement with Oskar the butcher after falling in love with a fop named Alfred who, however, has no serious interest in returning her love. For this error, she must pay bitterly.

An 11-year-old boy survives a serious car accident but remains mentally and physically disabled for the rest of his life. The film depicts the situation of those affected and the reaction of those around them. It is a call for more humane treatment of people with disabilities.

Since Benno Geyer fails to pass his Abitur due to his panicky exam anxiety, Dr. Fritz Geyer enrolls in high school under his brother's name. As a model student, he has no trouble getting good grades, but he quickly becomes unpopular among the students. From then on, he tries to impress with the craziest pranks.

Lawyer Maria Rohn takes on the case of Martin Siebeck. The truck driver allegedly ran over a man on the highway. Siebeck denies the crime and states that two people threw the victim in front of his truck at full speed. The more Maria Rohn looks into the case, the more she notices inconsistencies. Her husband Günther is also behaving more and more strangely. It seems that he was also involved in the accident...

Peace has returned to Björndal. After his father's death, young Dag succeeds him and strives to build a good relationship with his neighbor von Gall. The young farmer is determined to return the Borgland farm, which his father acquired by secretly purchasing bills of exchange. Dag leaves the old man in charge of the estate and assigns Aunt Elo, a lovely relative of his wife Adelheid, to assist him. He also brings Adelheid's father, Major Barre, to Björndal, where he is to spend his retirement with the young family. Old Dag and his two sons Tore and Dag Junior live on Björndal in the Nordic forests. The clan is constantly at odds with the noble landowner Lord von Gall, who lives on his sprawling estate with his daughter Elisabeth. During a dance, Tore snatches the distinguished young lady and sweeps her across the dance floor. Enraged by this audacity, she sets her admirer, Lieutenant Margas, on the temperamental young farmer. Tore loses his life in the fight, and catastrophe ensues.

Biggi is about to take her high school diploma. To avoid an impending chemistry exam, she fakes an illness. She obtains the necessary certificate from the handsome doctor Dr. Weiringk. She promptly falls in love with her savior and marries him. However, as the young wife of a busy doctor, Biggi soon feels abandoned. Professor Dr. Weiringk, her father-in-law, thinks little of her. She says she's only distracting his son from his homework. That's just one of the reasons for her decision to retake her high school diploma. Biggi secretly goes back to school. The double life as wife and student proves to be exhausting.
