Affected by the powerful images in the pamphlet Om kriget kommer (If war comes), farmhand Karl-Göran Persson begins fortifying his house. Through years of harvesting scrap-metal, he transforms the house into a fortress, meant to protect him and his neighbors when the enemy attacks. As the task progresses, reality and the threat of future destruction become intertwined, and construction becomes an obsession for the lonely Karl-Göran.

Emeryka loses control of her life through the intrigue of a mysterious character named The Something and is led to an adventurous escape to a female sect, for which she has to leave her daughter behind. It is a story about the right to choose how each person defines themselves in terms of gender and sexuality.

After “Heat”, it is the second short feature film directed by Agata Trzebuchowska, who is known as the leading actress in Paweł Pawlikowski’s “Ida”. Her proposal is unobvious and intriguing cinema, full of understatement, tension and a peculiar, inimitable atmosphere. The protagonist of “Vacancy” is Anna (Agnieszka Podsiadlik), a quite ordinary resident of a gated housing estate. One day, the woman takes a look inside an unfinished house opposite her own and makes a spontaneous decision to stay there. She begins to observe her family members and neighbours form her hiding spot. Not only does she discover their lesser and greater secrets but, above all, learns more about herself.

After fun-loving metalhead Jacek is disfigured in an accident at work, he becomes the first person in Poland to receive a face transplant. This leads to his status as a media spectacle and martyr, all while battling ensuing identity issues as a consequence.

An exceptionally gifted teenage boy is about to start studying physics at university. He is working on the theory of parallel worlds, which are linked, he initially believes, by light. He has an extraordinary mind and a wounded soul, which his mother, who steers his life, is incapable of healing.
