Based on the 1911 novel by Cynthia Stockley, this is the story of Dierdre Saurin, whose infatuation with Major Kinsella takes her to Africa where native uprisings and the jealous connivings of Maurice Stair await her.

A motion picture producer has press agent Jimmy Austin take Mary Callahan, a pretty shopgirl, to Europe. After an extensive publicity campaign, Mary returns to the United States as Maritza Callahansky, a Russian actress owning the crown jewels. To add support to her newly established identity, Maritza gives a party in a Long Island mansion in the rightful owner's absence. The owners return to find their home taken over by strangers and are about to call the police when it is discovered that they are the parents of one of the extras in the company.

During the World War, Donald Allen is reported killed in action but is really a victim of amnesia. His French nurse, Suzanne, gives him a new identity, and they marry.

At a lavish house party, bank president Robert Andrews stages his own “murder” to distract a visiting bank examiner from uncovering a shortage, setting off a whodunit where nearly everyone has a motive. The investigation spirals until Andrews is found alive and admits the frame-up—after the deficit is repaid. Mix is Grant Malvern, a rancher who befriends scientist Quentin Durant (Tom S. Guise) after rescuing him from a trio of Chinese crooks. The crooks want to find Durant's Arizona gold mine, and the map to the location is contained in a pair of rings. After the crooks track down Durant and kill him, one of the rings winds up with Durant's daughter, Helen (Adams), and the other falls into Malvern's hands.

Billy Garrison, a jockey, is framed and suspended for throwing a face. Depressed, he goes to a bar and eventually gets into a fight. He loses his memory, and is taken to the home of pretty young Sue Desha, who gets him a job as a jockey for her father, Col. Desha. Unfortunately, the man who framed Billy, named Crimmins, finds out he's working for the Sue's father and reveals Billy's past to the colonel. Complications ensue.

John Hampstead gives up his career as an actor and his actress sweetheart, Marian Dounay, to become a minister in a western town. Marian appears, and failing to win him back she tries to ruin his reputation. Hampstead is accused of stealing some jewelry though actually he is protecting the scapegrace brother of his current sweetheart, Bessie.

A Manhattan playboy falls for a mysterious European woman, whom he notices is an exact double for a famous socialite who disappeared at the turn of the century. At first he thinks it's just a coincidence, as the beautiful young woman he's romancing is much younger than the woman who vanished, who would be in her late 50s or early 60s by now. Soon, however, he begins to believe that maybe it's not such a coincidence after all.

The queen of a mythical European nation flees to America when a general threatens to overthrow her government.

Reformed criminal Boston Blackie is outraged when a judge refuses to grant a pardon for a dying friend. He hires Norine, his now-dead friend's daughter, to get to the judge through his son Rudy. However, things don't work out quite as Blackie had planned.
