Based on a true story, this is the love affair between a Lithuanian genius and the woman and the country he adored. Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis was born into a Lithuanian peasant family in 1875. Despite his lowly origins he soon revealed himself to be a child prodigy able to both paint and compose music of startling and often frightening intensity. Soon after he was struck down by a mysterious mental illness, which would plague him for the rest of his life. During his short lifetime, Ciurlionis produced over 300 paintings and 300 musical compositions. Supporting him throughout his short and painful life was his beloved wife, Sofija Kymantaite, a journalist and political activist.

The author Jurga Ivanauskaitė (1961-2007) was considered a pioneer of contemporary Baltic literature well beyond the borders of Lithuania. Her work deals intensively with the tension between religion, sexuality and emancipation. Film documents and interviews serve to reconstruct the life of this independent and willful woman - from her childhood to her artistic breakthrough as a companion of the Lithuanian rock and punk scene, but also depicting her spiritual side, which brought her all the way to India, where she turned to Buddhism. She is shown as fighting for the Dalai Lama and a "free Tibet", shown as a literary mind, but first and foremost she is shown as a woman who stood bravely in the face of inconvenience, pain and inner demons.

The film deals with the Lithuanian partisan resistance. An actor is playing the part of a partisan in a play called "Bunker". During the play he experiences a hallucination and starts believing he's a boy who lives in post-war Lithuania. In 1948 the boy made a mistake which cost the lives of him and the wife of a partisan. Back in 21st century, the actor has a chance to fix that mistake.

Fishke, a lame Jewish bath attendant, stands up against the on going persecutions and killings of Jews and forms the first Jewish platoon in Russia of the 16th century.

A young Frenchman receives a royal award for his scientific discovery. The new laureate agrees to become a client of an elite bank, which stores the “future offsprings” of many great people. Upon learning of this, the Frenchman’s bride, the daughter of a Greek millionaire, decides to destroy this bank. She cannot live with the fact that anyone can now have a child from her simple-minded husband. To implement her plan, she contacts the monastery under the guise of sister Teresa, a famous cracker of safes. The third accomplice is a Russian champion in skydiving. Later they are joined by a Japanese karateka and an Italian prostitute.
