About twenty years ago, Germany got to know Bernd Stromberg and his team from the claims department at CAPITOL Insurance. Back then, there was nothing vegan in the cafeteria, and bullying and sexism were commonplace in the office. Since then, the world of work has changed enormously. But has Bernd Stromberg changed too?

Ralf Prange lives on the ground floor and is at home all day. This makes him the perfect "branch" for the whole building. Stacks of boxes and parcels from his neighbors pile up in his tiny apartment. But one day, love comes knocking at his door: Dörte, the new parcel delivery woman. The grumpy but kind-hearted Prange is smitten, and Dörte doesn't seem averse to the idea either. However, Horst Rohde, Prange's number one annoying neighbor, doesn't like the budding romance at all. Because he has his eye on Dörte himself.

The scientist meets Mani, who is walking the spiritual path and who somehow fascinates her despite all the differences. Her relationship with her long-time boyfriend Philipp is less good. After an argument, he flies to Gomera alone. She stays behind, not only worrying about the weather being far too warm, but also has to put up with her Christmas-crazy neighbor and his family and receive her conspiracy-obsessed in-laws-to-be while Mani stays overnight with her. On Christmas Eve, fate and the weather really start to shake up Liane.

25-year-old Ida lives in a symbiotic relationship with her unemployed and depressed mother Ildikó. Every day seems to be a weekend, as her mother has not worked for a long time and the apartment seems to be a vacation spot. After she finishes her studies, however, everything changes. Ida has to decide between her sense of responsibility for Ildikó and her own happiness when she receives an offer of her dream job. For this, she would have to move from the apartment they share to Fehmarn.

Detective Chief Inspector Sörensen is anxious. More precisely, he suffers from a chronic anxiety disorder that makes life difficult for him. That is why he is moving from Hamburg to the Frisian village of Katenbüll, where he hopes for a more peaceful working life. But that is not how the cookie crumbles. The place is grey and bleak, it rains continuously, and the locals are not very enthusiastic in welcoming him. He also finds his new colleagues, Jenni Holstenbeck and Malte Schuster, somewhat suspect. And then things go from bad to worse. Mayor Hinrichs is found dead in his stables. Sörensen quickly realises that there is a lot of bad blood hidden behind the small town's tranquil facade and some well-founded reasons for anxiety...

The celebration of the 50th anniversary of “Capitol-Insurance” is due – that's what the bosses thought. All employees are invited to join the party in a hotel. However, rumors say the company's not doing very well. To avoid unemployment due to the possible shutdown of the smaller branch office the only option is to move to the headquarters. Now that's the ultimate challange for Stromberg, who is notoriously trying to be the example of a department manager, gathering all of his employees behind him.

The happening of a ceremonial robing of the youngest daughter as a novice in a Swabian convent screws up the values of a modern family. As if life wasn't complicated enough anyway. And how are you supposed to be happy without new clothes?

On the request of his mother Gitte, Marko, who has been living in Berlin for years, drives off to the countryside to visit his parents. His hopes of spending a quiet and relaxing time with his family fall short when Gitte surprises everyone by revealing that she has recovered after a long mental illness. Marko is the only one who respects her wish from now on to be treated as a full member of this family and, as a result, ends up tipping more than just the delicate balance of his parent’s seemingly harmonious relationship.

Having trouble coping with school and their teachers, five students are sent to after school detention by principal Seifert. To avoid expulsion they must take extra hours in ethics. It is their last chance. Stressed out with her own exams, the new trainee teacher Mechthild Bremer is not enthusiastic about being assigned to teach this class. Accordingly, the first couple of hours do not run smoothly. The five give her a hard time.
