Pedro, a poor Portuguese immigrant, comes to Brazil to try to change his life, but ends up getting in trouble. He falls in love with the wife of one of his best friends and marries her; soon after, she cheats on him.

Chief of Police Rui, a happily married man of principles, is in charge of investigating Joana, a teacher who's accused of political crimes. After some false starts, he manages to arrest her, but is startled to learn that she's also a nun. The revelation doesn't alter the natural course of events: he must torture her in order to obtain a confession, and gets increasingly attracted to her.

The Trapalhões live in a floating boat and have a miserable life. When they find an abandoned baby, they decide to raise it as if it were their own daughter. Later, when they begin to work in a circus, they discover that the child is in fact the daughter of the trapeze artist and that she was forced to surrender her daughter to a gang that negotiates children abroad. This gang finds them and tries to recover the girl who now, however, has the help of the Trapalhões to protect her.

Zionists hire a hitman to kill a Nazi war criminal exiled in a Latin American country, where he's being protected by the local dictator. Get ready for gunshots; sex scenes; strange form of tortures; a cocaine-addict priest who helps the dictatorship; contemptous remarks and behavior from the main "hero"; amusing sequences of Chuchu having fun with beautiful women pretending to be James Bond; and the wimp colonel who is in love with a male prostitute. It's all good and fun to watch but remember that this is a product of its era, so it's quite possible to see some objectionable things. But for the most part it's never crass or insanely offensive.

In the early seventies in Rio de Janeiro, detective Mariel Moryscötte de Mattos belonged to a special police force called "The Golden Men". This powerful group of the elite of the police was created with the intention of eliminate crime from Rio de Janeiro, and they had privileges above law to expedite their action against the outlaws. However, absolute power in wrong hands corrupts, and this group formed the "Death Squad", executing criminals without the conventional trial from the justice.

During an orgy of millionaires, a woman is mysteriously kidnapped and killed. The crime causes quite a stir in local society, as the investigations points to a very known addicted playboy. Although it's never said, the film is vaguely based on a real case happened in 1975, when socialite Ângela Diniz was killed by her lover Doca Street, in Búzios, Brazil.
