An ordinary man’s life takes an unlikely turn when he saves the life of a high-ranking security officer in an accident.

The story of the Podolsk cadets’ heroic stand outside Moscow in October 1941. Cadets were sent to the Ilyinsky line, fighting alongside units from the Soviet 43rd Army to hold back the German advance until reinforcements arrived. Hopelessly outnumbered, young men laid down their lives in a battle lasting almost two weeks to obstruct the far superior German forces advancing towards Moscow. Around 3,500 cadets and their commanding officers were sent to hold up the last line of defense outside Moscow. Most of them remained there for eternity.

For two months a serial killer has been terrorizing the city of St. Petersburg. Every Wednesday a girl between 9 and 12 years old is the victim. The brutality of the maniac plunges city residents into horror. Parents are afraid of leaving their children alone on the street. The press reinforces the atmosphere of fear and hysteria.

A Jewish child deported to Kazakhstan is saved and adopted by Kasym, an old Kazakh railway-man. Kasym gives him a Kazakh name, Sabyr, that in Kazakh language means humble. The child grows up in the small Kazakh village along with other deportees Vera, a traitor's wife, and Ezhik a Polish doctor. The Soviet militia harasses the poor peasants and Vera suffered the harassment of a bully cop: Bulgabi. Finally Vera accepts the marriage proposal of Ezhik but the jealous Bulgabi tries to prevent the marriage. The result is a fight in which Ezhik shoots himself accidentally. The old Kasym decides that Sabyr is now old enough to go to seek his real parents. At the end Sabyr, now an adult, decides to return to the village, but the village no longer exists because it was destroyed by a Soviet nuclear test.

“Male's way” is the first male series devoid of thieves' raids, pseudo-romantic maxims and melodramatic self-torture, an uncompromisingly honest look at the relations of men and women, devoid of political correctness alien to this form. These are stories about “sex in the big city” through the eyes of women and men living in the Russian metropolis, this is a challenge to the norms of hypocritical morality, screaming about tolerance and chastity, but mired in oppression and debauchery, this is a bitter medicine, caustic truth about the heroes of our time forced to live according to the laws of the society to which they serve. And in this hopeless accuracy, the main note of all interwoven plots, where life itself will put everything in its place, and yesterday's monster can become handsome, and Cinderella can turn into a witch.

The plot focuses on an ordinary family living in one village in the taiga. Father works as a driller and mother as a nurse. It would seem that everything is fine with them, but suddenly father begins to drink and draws his wife into it, leaving his son without supervision.
