A pregnant woman from a primitive tribal community, searches desperately for her husband, who is missing from police custody. So as to find her husband and seek justice for them, as their voice, a High Court advocate rises in support. Will their battle for justice succeed?

The film focuses on a very conservative Namboodiri family in a very regressive social milieu. Ishti centres around two main characters, a 70-year-old Ramavikraman Namboodiri, who is a Vedic scholar who preserves the fire from a Somayagam to light his funeral pyre, and Sreedevi, his young, third wife. Sreedevi stands up against orthodoxy. She manages to inspire her husband’s son from another marriage to read and write. The conflict between these characters and those who revolve around their lives is what the film is generally about. It then also becomes a strong comment on the attempt to balance worldly desires and the rigidity of caste and tradition.

Mosayile Kuthira Meenukal (English: Swordfishes of Big Tides), a Malayalam Adventure movie directed by Ajith Pillai. Asif Ali (Alex) is the scion of a large and rich Christian family, whose male members take pride in flaunting their virility. Due to his wayward life he lands up in prison. He makes attempts to flee from prison but in vain. A savior appears before him in the form of Sunny Wayne. He is from Lakshadweep, and circumstances make Asif Ali to follow him to the beautiful picturesque sea side town where he learns to amend his selfish ways. The narration forms the rest of the story.

Chayilyam is a Malayalam language film written and directed by Manoj Kana. The story is about the plight of a hapless widow, who is denied the freedom to lead a normal life by the society. The film was produced with contributions from more than 2,000 individuals and released in theatres in February 2014.

The film narrates the story of a self-declared demi-god and her alcoholic husband. It is reportedly inspired from the life of the controversial godwoman Divya Joshi.
