In 1974, a group of 11-year-old boys spend the last carefree summer of their childhood, unaware that the world of grown-ups, with its loves, passions, prejudices and curses, is about to seal their fate. Aaron, Stelios, Sakis, Galanos and Verios, "the acrobats", are best friends. School has closed for the summer holidays and the children spend their time playing games, running errands, and riding their bikes. Life is a game, into which they channel all their physical energy and imagination. They practice their diving abilities in a big cistern. It is a game through which their special talents and competitive spirit unfold. One is good at balancing acts, another at diving and another at somersaults. It is in this neighborhood that Aaron will spend the most important summer of his life: a rite of passage from childhood to adolescence, a time for learning about love, jealousy and friendship.

A group of men in their sixties that spend the August nights in Athens outside a pharmacy during night shift, an ambulance driver who has an affair with a younger girl, a middle-aged couple who have invented a lie to renew their passion for one another, a child pretending to sleepwalk in the streets of Athens, two younger people who are tied together in an office after a burglar attack, and other amorous encounters during the same night.

Giovanna, a former circus acrobat and now a dancer in a nightclub, sees Stefano among the customers one evening. He had previously treated Giovanna for an injury at the clinic where he works as a doctor. This encounter is followed by others. A great love blossoms between them, until unforeseen events disrupt their relationship. Giovanna, who is pressured to sit with the club's customers, quits her job and returns to the circus... Stefanos is a musician who lives a quiet life. One day, however, when he leaves his son with his nanny at the supermarket to do some shopping, something happens that changes her life forever. At the same time that some people are trying to rob the cash delivery, Stefanos' son, accompanied by his nanny, exits the supermarket and is killed by a stray bullet fired by the robbers at the money transporters. The pain of the unfortunate father stifles every human emotion within him, and when the law loses track of the robbers and control of the situation, Stefanos discovers the robbers...

Having discovered his great luck at gambling, a stingy employee develops into fearless gambler.
