A crime has been committed. Thanks to the determination and perseverance of a young police criminal investigation officer, it is possible to get on the trail of a seasoned repeat offender and solve a long-standing crime related to the disappearance of diamonds of the famous Siberian merchant Kukhterin in February 1917.

A small provincial town is home to two rival teenage gangs, one devoted to loose living and punk music and the other a collection of narrow-minded bodybuilders obsessed with order and convinced of their own moral rectitude. However, this cosy state of affairs is upset by the arrival of two strangers dressed like Pushkin, the famous early 19th century Russian poet, who proceed to found their own organisation, dedicated ostensibly to the memory of the great writer and the "salvation of Russia". Gradually, they begin to assume control of the town...

Set around the Volga river, the story begins around 1900, when Russian peasants are let free and allowed to own their farmlands. But soon they suffer from losses during the 1917 Russian Revolution and the following Civil War. Then, the major national catastrophe is started by Stalin: his communist government kills millions of farmers and steals all their food supplies, causing the longest and deadliest famine all over central Russia during the 1920s and 1930s.

At the flying club Zina met a cameraman aerial filming Sergey Leninym, very seriously engaged in parachuting and after a while in international competitions has become one of the contenders for the gold medal. But soon fell into the gorge, the helicopter in which there was Sergey. And then Zina firmly decided to leave the sport…

The chairman of the Rassvet collective farm, Foma Lukash, lived honestly and fairly. But when his heart began to catch, Lukash went to the hospital.
