Woo Soo grew up as an orphan. His life was full of anger, exacerbated by being poor. One day, Woo Soo meets some kids. The children makes Woo Soo realize that even though he is poor, he can still share with others. This changes his life. Woo Soo works as a delivery man for a Chinese restaurant. He makes $700 dollars a month. He shares his earnings with the kids. Woo Soo hears someone say "thank you" for the first time to him. He cannot possibly be any happier. Things abruptly come to a halt when Woo Soo gets involved in an accident.

Against the wishes and advice of friends and relatives, Chul-soo and Young-hui get married. They start their life together but because of their inability to communicate, their marriage falls apart and ends in divorce. Friends help them find a two-story house to live in. Chul soo takes the upstairs and Young-hui, the downstairs. From that moment there is constant interference and jealousy between the two. Young-hui eventually brings a man home to make Chul-soo jealous, which it does, even though he no longer has right to interfere in her life.

Yeong-hun gave up medical school to follow his dream of becoming a movie director but he finds himself as a lowly assistant director with no real responsibilites. He meets student Seong-hie and falls in love, but he lies to her, saying that he is the film's director, hoping that she will be impressed and return his feelings of love.

Hae-il grew up hating his father and unable to adjust to family life. As an adult, he is a toughened young man with a troubled outlook on life. Hae-sung, his younger half-brother is a young man with a sweet disposition who tries to understand Hae-il. Hae-sung and Eun-chae fall for each other but when Eun-chae meets Hae-il, the three form an uneasy love triangle. The pain of loving someone you can not be with takes its toll. Hae-il tries very hard to leave the street life and expresses his feelings to Eun-chae. As Hae-sung begins to resent his brothers actions, they are confronted with their father's death. Their dying father's confession throws their lives into further turmoil. Hae-il vows this time to guard his family. Tragedy strikes when Hae-sung dies trying to save Hae-il's life. Hae-il cries for his dead brother's love and becomes determined to start over with Eun-chae.

Jun-hyoung is a training teacher who meets Hye-na, a very outgoing student. She always acts freely with out any restriction. As time as goes by, she slowly starts to interfere in his life. Sun-shul, who is very lonely, loves Hye-na. Jun-hyoung feels that it's hard to put up with Hye-na, but his mentor insists and tells him to take care of her. Jun-hyoung does not understand and feels as though this situation in unfair for him. Soon after, he finds out Hye-na's secret...
