Young judge Thirza Zorniger's dream comes true when she is offered a temporary position at the Higher Regional Court in Munich's historic Palace of Justice. Neither the high expectations of her superior Kaspar Epha nor the mountain of old cases she has to work through can dampen her euphoria.

You: an experienced vixen with the fashion sense of a random generator. He: an Italian pretty boy who swallowed all American action films with his mother's milk. Together are Herta Frohwitter, played by Ulrike Krumbiegel, and her assistant Marco Petrassi, played by Daniel Rodic Frankfurt's new investigator duo. They successfully fight "Verbräschä" and also the quirks of each other. The first common case leads them to a wedding fair. Rosi Döpfner, a hotel manager who is no longer completely fresh, reports her fiancé Rüdiger Vogelsang as missing.

Music student Eva has fallen head over heels in love with musician Jo. They have a burning passion for one another and discover that they are able to communicate without auxiliary means, even across great distances. Their love is so great that Eva even follows her boyfriend into heroin addiction. But now this has to come to an end: Eva is pregnant and the two of them plan to go cold turkey in the solitude of New Zealand.

Dr. David Douglas is about to start his own private clinic and marry architect Jane Merchenson. Then his father dies, leaving debts from a real estate fraud he fell victim to, so selling the mortgaged Cornish family estate Oaktree isn't nearly enough. David cancels the wedding and sells to John Tyson, a friend of Jane's father Michael, who starts renovating it, employing her. Later David discovers Jane gave birth to their son, Nicky, without telling him.

Senator Isaak Kohler shoots and kills Professor Winter in a crowded restaurant, while Winter is dining with the struggling idealistic young lawyer, Felix Spat. Kohler puts up no defense and is sentenced to twenty years. Kohler then gets his daughter Helene to pay the reluctant Spat to reinvestigate the case, on the assumption that Kohler is innocent. The newspapers pick up on this and begin to question whether Kohler was wrongly convicted.

For fans of history, this glimpse of Munich society in the 1920s will be a much-treasured event. The story revolves around an art-gallery manager who puts on a show featuring the scandalous works of a woman artist who committed suicide. He is unjustly accused of having committed adultery with her, and for some reason the authorities decide to make an example of him. He is imprisoned at about the same time that Hitler and the nascent Nazi party attempt the infamous Beer Hall Putsch, and the gallery manager's girlfriend and a Swiss writer valiantly (and unsuccessfully) attempt to get better justice for him. Nobody in authority, it seems, has the courage to take up the challenge of righting this particular injustice.
