Customs officer Tapio goes undercover to reveal a smuggling ring, which operates within an entrainment troupe. While doing his detective work, he also gets to know the beautiful dancer Leila.

Åke Strandberg has managed to get a fine education and a good job at the bank, but he wants more. He wants to get rich no matter what. After holidays with his girl Rita, he comes back to Helsinki completely broke and meets up with his buddy Jussi in a bar. For months they embezzle money from the bank, but eventually do realize they have to cover the missing amount by orchestrating and committing a robbery which will then rouse the interest of the police. A hide and seek follows as they try to make their way abroad.

Maria, who lives in Hermann, Helsinki, takes in a baby abandoned on the steps of a bar. Mean neighbors call the foundling, named Stiina, a municipal orphan, which makes the girl ashamed of her background. Malicious gossip, constant poverty, and misfortune strengthen her spirit. Stiina grows up to be a brave and fair woman.

Eliisa Raaska, who lives in the Soviet Union, wants to move to Finland to be with her beloved Mikko Vanhalan, but she does not want to leave her elderly and sick father in Ingria.

Liisa Harju, a lively and quick-witted teacher from Savo, gets her first job in Latomeri, Ostrobothnia. She falls out of favor with the local women when the eligible bachelor, doctor Eino Korpinen, takes a liking to her.

Inspector Puosu investigates the murder of smuggler Nelly with journalist Harn. Doubts are directed at wholesaler Antti Rajapalo, whose innocence is believed only by Rajapalo's secretary Ane Arvila.

A small village provides a scene for intrigues, fights, love, jealousy, accusations, and revenge.

Mauri Huhkinen, a busy man in Tukkilahden, has taken on so many municipal positions of trust that he has three meetings in one evening and no time for his family. Everything changes when the residents of Tukkilahden hear about Mauri and his fellow trustees' rowdy night out at a restaurant in Helsinki.

Farce which deals with the position of men and women, with the concept of marriage... It's a story about two men both called Vihtori in the vortex of love, gender and "estate".

The film revolves around Vihtori's clandestine involvement with an attractive and rather worldly young woman named Ritva, who is planning to marry boxing champion and garage owner Klasu Tullari, son of Vihtori's friend Tomi, and their interactions with daughter Vappu and her fiancé, Peter von Schaslick, a mechanic in Klasu's garage, under the nose of the threatening and suspicious Klaara, with lazy son Nisse acting as a rather sardonic Greek chorus. Teuvo Tulio's only comedy.
