Maurice Le Noblet Duplessis was a lawyer and a Union Nationale politician in Québec. First elected 1927, and serving for over 32 years, he was elected Premier ministre du Québec for two separate terms totaling just over 18 years. This makes him the longest serving Premier and one of the most consequential leaders in the history of Québec.

This feature-length documentary takes us back to the Montreal-Quebec trip undertaken in 1958 by the students of Francine Laurendeau, Jean-Pierre Goyer and Bruno Meloche with the aim of meeting the Prime Minister of Quebec, the Honorable Maurice Duplessis. They had been asked by their student assembly to hand-deliver a memorandum on joining the university. But the Prime Minister refuses to receive them. For three months, every morning, politely, they will reiterate their request... Thirty years later, we are taking the Montreal-Quebec train with them.

This film establishes a parallel between the 1970 electoral campaign in Québec and the 1936 campaign dominated by Maurice Duplessis. It shows the hope but also the uncertainty that existed in 1970. Had the Quiet Revolution really changed things in Québec? Was it possible that a new leader would emerge on the political scene? (NFB.ca)
