Arko, a film student, invites Subir Banerjee, who played the legendary role of Apu, to attend an award ceremony in Germany. But the old man hesitates to accept the invitation.

A rich industrialist and womanizer, Nirendra, has a poor woman, Atashi, kidnapped. In the struggle, she loses her memory. Atashi recovers in Nirendra's care and the two begin to fall in love.

A miser bequeaths his property to his two destitute nephews, provided they within a month marry girls who are well mannered, high family, beautiful and young (22-24 age) issue-less divorcees, divorced within 2 months of marriage.

Throughout her life, Supriya loved a man and was married to another man however she did not either escape from her responsibilities as a doting wife. However, her inner feelings keep tormenting her all her life and her married life becomes an utter failure. She not only ruins her life but everybody else's around her. In the end, her life becomes nothing more than fragmented pieces of broken images.

Born in a rural village outside Calcutta, Ramakrishna even as a boy naturally gravitated toward leading a spiritual life. This tendency only intensified as he grew older. When as a young man he became a temple priest, he was seized by an unquenchable thirst for union with God, and he immersed himself in intense meditation and other spiritual practices.

Krishna, the daughter of a penny-pincher, falls for their tenant, Sunil. However, when Sunil leaves to forge a career, her insensitive father fixes her marriage with someone else for money.

Impoverished priest Harihar Ray leaves his rural Bengal village in search of work. His wife, Sarbojaya, looks after their rebellious daughter, Durga, and young son, Apu. The children enjoy the small pleasures of their difficult life.
