Clemens Andermann, once a celebrated stage and film star, now an equally successful industrialist, is firmly convinced that his son Andreas is studying chemistry in the idyllic university town of Freylangen. But he is completely mistaken. In reality, his offspring has secretly been hired by theater director Löwe to play Romeo. He would also love to play the role to his stage Juliet, the charming guest star Monika Holl. Then the telegram announcing his father's visit hits like a bombshell. Together with his friend Oskar, Andreas tries to keep the deception going by impersonating his father's doppelganger – an undertaking that initially descends into utter chaos and ultimately leads to a happy ending.

Biography of the famous German actress Renate Müller, who died in 1937 under unsettled circumstances; While doing her first movie for the UFA in Berlin, she meets the elderly secretary-general Dr. Simon and is impressed by his charm. Although her Nazi-friend Volker discourages her to befriend a Jew, they start dating. While she ascends to one of the most famous German actresses of her time, Simon is suffering more and more under the Nazi regime.

The young Monika Dahlhoff returns from the USA after two years. As soon as she arrives, she learns that her father wants to sell his traditional stud farm, because he has quarreled with the members of the equestrian club. Accordingly annoyed is the old Dahlhoff, when his daughter just fell in love with the son of his greatest enemy. In the annual "Hubertusjagd" there is a dramatic encounter between the men.
