Richard de la Croix's brother, Andreas, has been driven insane by a notorious vamp and socialite named Sappho. A friend takes Richard to the Odeon to meet her, but when Sappho actually meets him, he is unaware that she is the woman who drove Andreas to be institutionalised. Sappho genuinely falls in love with Richard, and decides to leave her vampy ways and her older lover behind her so that she can have him.

A method actress likes living out the roles she is playing in real life. To prepare for her new play, she enters the criminal underworld and ends up being implicated in a burglary of a Duke who is one of her suitors. The film was shot at the Babelsberg Studios in Berlin. The film received a generally positive reception from critics, although some were doubtful about the blending of farce and tragedy.

Lavinia Morland marries a rich banker in order to obtain money to care for a sick artist with whom she is in love. A woman tells the banker of this state of affairs and he hires a disreputable and bogus count to compromise his wife so that he may obtain a divorce. She kills her husband when she finds he has trapped her, but her story told in court procures her release.
