In the historic Roma quarter of Sulukule, its colorful residents, led by matriarch Sabahat, her niece Güllü, and rival chieftain candidates Uncle Bekir and family friend Bayram, face their first ever democratic election for “çeribaşı,” erupting into drunken brawls and police interventions.
