In a time preceding the Carnation Revolution, we meet two men: one young, one old. One is fleeing the country, and the other helps him escape through Trás-os-Montes. While they make “the leap,” they speak about their lives and their troubles… This is an ode to those who fought for Freedom, and to these fifty springs that have passed. Throughout 13 performed songs, we travel across the country, hand in hand with several Portuguese people who tells us their stories through music, until we get back to this young man who runs away and returns to Lisbon, shortly after the Revolution, to reunite with his loved ones and live in freedom.

At the age of 22, Sofia discovers that her father and grandfather belong to the “Order of Idol Makers”. This Order planned and executed the deaths of Socrates, John F. Kennedy, Elvis, Marylin Monroe, and many others in order to turn them into Idols. They believe that idols are necessary to inspire young people and to promote noble values in a society that is increasingly full of frivolous / vain / superficial ideas and people. Their death is the only way to immortalize the noblest among them. However, until now, only men who are sons of members of the Order were allowed to join. Now, for the first time, they’ve decided to give a woman the chance...

THE SMELL OF CANDLES is a short film about the emotional boundaries that bind the relationships between siblings. Sara and Gabriela have long lost contact with each other. They finally meet for their mother's anniversary. Amongst the present silences and the confrontations from the past, the two sisters rediscover their intimacy in an unexpected surprise party.

This really happened, or so it is said. In 1840, a few years after the Portuguese Civil War, a young man arrived at a village by the Douro, carrying a book full of stories. Following the teachings of that book, the villagers of Granja do Tedo founded a social and religious movement that would last seven years, led by the healer Maria das Neves, self-styled “Third Eve, by Jesus Crowned”. The promotion of women’s role in society, the divulgation of naturism, solidarity with the poor and the expansion of free education were some of the movement’s demands. Maria Coroada, Crowned Maria, tells us of the ability to converse with the gods that live inside of us, of the courageous search for voices that transcend us. It also tells us of a book’s power to transform a whole community. And of the beauty of that transformation.
