Ashoke Gupta is an idealistic doctor working in a town near Calcutta. He discovers that the water at a popular temple is the source of an outbreak of typhoid and hepatitis. In order to save lives, he risks his career to try and call attention to this polluted water source, while a local group of building contractors attempt to discredit him in various ways.

The film is set in during the Emergency period in December 1975. Jadunath a labour union leader, of Jethia Jute Mill in Kolkata has been given death sentence, for the murders of owner Jethia’s brother, and another worker, even though he never committed them. Before dying, he pledges his eyes for donation. However when the mill owner finds about this he tries to manoeuvre the medical system to get both the eyes for his blind son. Meanwhile the doctor discovers that the donation papers provided by the Jethia to be fake. Soon the mill workers get united behind the widow of Jadunath and hold protest rally against the injustice.

The film ends on a happy note where all the dangers are removed from the family and they live peacefully, clearing up all the misunderstandings against each other.

He decides to take singing lessons to earn money. Bandana is a good singer and she starts taking classes from Ajay. Ajay starts liking Bandana because she is a charming lady and sings well. Arun and Bandana meet and they fall in love. Ajay is forced to sell his inherited property to pay Arun’s fees. His poverty is only short-lived as his popularity spreads and he becomes wealthy. In the meantime, Arun comes to know that Ajay has sold their family property but does not know the reason behind the act. This creates a misunderstanding between the two brothers. However, it is soon cleared and Ajay transfers his wealth to his brother. Arun and Bandana got married.
