The Haozakura-kai continues to relentlessly tail Jin every day, but now, a yakuza from the Enshin-gumi, Mizuno Tetsuo, appears. Just as they share a cup of sake as blood brothers, an assassin from the Tendo-gumi attacks and kills Mizuno, leaving behind his only sister, Rei. This is where Jin's days of agony begins, entrusted with Rei.

Geisha Yaeko is approached by a samurai who has just returned to Edo while she is painting a picture of camellia flowers in a temple. The samurai, whom she meets again at a drinking party, is the heir to the castle's daimyo, Yuuki Shinichiro, and the two become romantically involved despite their different social standings. Although he tells her he cannot marry her immediately, Yaeko believes in Shinichiro and continues to wait for the day they can be together. However, Shinichiro's uncle, Kuwajima, tells her to end the relationship.

This occult suspense depicts the horror of a confrontation between a woman who senses spirits and a woman who is possessed by spirits. Aki Akazawa (Aiko Morishita), who lives in the company housing of a trading company, has always developed psychic abilities. One day, Aki attends a party and meets Misa Urakami (Yoko Natsuki), secretary to the general manager of the company, and senses something terrifying and evil. Misa soon reveals her true nature and begins blackmailing the ladies of the company housing complex.

As air raids intensify, fourth-grader Hisashi, or Boku-chan, chooses to evacuate from Osaka to Shimane over the objections of his mother. He is elected head of his new class but is always confronted by the delinquent Shinji.
