Stojan Đorđević

A story about the journalist Aleksandar, who was assigned by his editor to write a story about an old mill located in a remote village deep in the forest. According to urban legend, the place is visited by demons who do not allow the local population to grind grain in that mill.

Đorđe and Divna are young people whose freedom is limited. Divna dreamed of being a famous singer, but she is forced to sing in a bar and perform striptease, and Đorđe's birth mother limits his freedom for fear of leaving her, like his father. The two meet and connect through music, and experience a love affair. They plan to help each other, to throw off the "strains and shackles" that bind them, but they face many obstacles that "bind" them, and which they must overcome in order to succeed.

The storyline narrates his memories of the past and the war events in the spring of 1941 interwoven with the contemporary moments, the author features the attack of fascist Germany, the April war and the fall of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the misfortune placed upon the Serbian people, loss of freedom, birth of the freedom movement in Serbia and one Serbian soldier, who after 70 years of expatriation in America returns to his homeland.

A metaphorical story about the constant struggle of the artist to reach those five minutes of limelight. A tale about an upswing and downfall, with the climax appearing concurrently and unexpectedly. The hermetical life of artists, who are enclosed into their own world of ideas, striving to create the epochal masterpiece. Even if they succeed, the image they create is the reflection of themselves. And with the same fervor, they repeat the process in endless cycles.
