Abducted, presumed dead, young Pratap survives in an ashram, learns various arts of worship and weaponry, rescues and then falls in love with Kalingnagar's Rajkumari Malti, and wants to wed her. When he visits the region, he finds that many others who had attempted to wed her, had failed due to stringent conditions set forth by her dad, Bhujang Verma, and are languishing in prison. It is then he finds out his parents, who had been duped out of their palace by Bhujang and Rajguru, are alive, blind, imprisoned and tortured regularly, and sets forth to restore their kingdom to them. In order to do this, he must bring back a Mani that is located in a secret cave, guarded by snakes, protect himself from flesh-eating and shape-changing demoness', pygmies, and other challenges, while the wily Rajguru abducts Malti as well as his parents, and intends to hold them hostage until the Mani is turned over to him.

After the untimely death of her father and step-mother, Sonia is orphaned and lives with her aunt and paternal uncle (Mrs. and General Rajpal Singh). Sonia is plain-looking as her real mother, and often invites unappreciative, taunts, and critical remarks from her aunt and cousin-sister, Sheela. Sheela has a boyfriend, Dev Kumar Mehra, and she plans to marry him. Fed-up of hearing frequent taunts and adverse remarks about her plain-looks, Sonia challenges Sheetal that she will make Dev fall in love with her.

Ravi or "Bunnu" as he's called at home and Sandhya (Chandrakala) are childhood sweethearts despite Ravi being poor, and Sandhya being rich. Sandhya's father, who is a senior official in the Railways is posted to a distant location; Ravi and Sandhya are separated and out of contact. Many years later, Ravi has matured into a strapping young man. Not being rich or influential, Ravi finds it hard to find a job and decides to approach his friend Prakash (played by M. Rajan). Prakash is a happy-go-luck rich kid, whose family runs a large timber factory amid lush jungles, and is only too happy to hire Ravi at a generous salary (Rs.300 per month, although Ravi asks for only Rs.100).

Girdharilal lives a poor lifestyle in Delhi along with his wife, Geeta, and two daughters, and a son. He works as a Money Order Clerk in the Post Office, earns Rs.110/- per Mensem, and wears a torn coat that his wife is tired of stitching. One day at work, he makes an error in a money order but does manage to fix it, collects his pay, and returns home, refusing to drink...

At the behest of his father, Raj writes letters to Chandra, a prospective bride. However, unbeknownst to him, it is Neelu, Chandra's sister, who responds to his letters and falls in love with him.

Chand lives in a small rural town in India. He is unable to pay the rent, and his landlord evicts him. He re-locates to another town and meets with a young woman named Tara. Both are attracted to each other. Chand is unable to secure employment in this town, and moves elsewhere. Tara waits for several months, but does not hear anything from him. So she decides to go and look for him, hoping to re-kindle her love. She is shocked and surprised to find him with an attractive woman named Rajni, who claims that Chand is her betrothed and both are to get married soon.
