The film tells the story of a couple, Rais (Agus Kuncoro) and Rani (Kristina) who have been in a relationship since their teens when they both live in a suburb. At the edge of the river they built a stage, as a form of their dreams for the future. At that time Rani had started to become a dangdut singer even though it was only for the village class. Their dreams both seem to really be like a stage in life, which can change fate from gray to luminous, Rani transforms into a famous singer, after going through various career-making struggles. Meanwhile, Rais, it turns out that it is very difficult to get happiness in his life.

Newlyweds Merry (Lydia Kandou) and Andi (Ray Sahetapy) have to say goodbye to Anita’s parents who are going abroad for a holiday. Aunt and Uncle (Zainal Abidin, Ida Kusumah) have been asked to watch over them. While Merry and Andi are at the airport to see the parents off, a sweet looking girl comes up and kisses Andi and gives him a message for another young woman. Confusion ensues. Merry becomes suspicious. In the midst of this atmosphere of suspicion, Andi has to take part in an office meeting in Puncak. Even worse, after the meeting, Andi’s boss invites him to a party and after that Andi has to go to Bandung on business. Andi calls Merry, who has taken Andi’s joking around with his servant Kadir about women seriously, to inform her of these plans, and she tells him that she wants to separate from him.

The harmonious marriage of Sulaiman and his wife Ningsih is shattered when the latter falls in love with Kadir and then she demands both he and their daughter Mirna leave the house so she can move her lover in. But then Kadir, a playboy, has an affair with Suryani, a widow who has a daughter of her own named Lisa. The affair is found out when Ningsih catches them in the act and a fight leads to a murder. Kadir and Suryani bury Ningsih near the house and are then haunted by Ningsih’s spirit, who also possesses Lisa.

Indri quickly rushes home from abroad when her father suddenly dies. At home, she finds her nursemaid Tuti tied up while her stepmother has gone back to the village. At night, someone is stalking the house. So she suspects that her father’s death was unnatural and her suspicions ring true. Somali, the vice-president in her father’s company, wants to take over the latter’s wealth by colluding with her nursemaid.

When Rengganis’ love for a fellow student at her martial arts school is spurned, she steals his magical power and turns into a Siluman Laba-Laba (Spider Demon). She then attacks and murders innocent people until her teacher sends his prized pupil Senjoyo after her armed with magic.

The two cause all kinds of problems and kill all kinds of people but Rengganis is also looking for a cure as turning into an ugly spider monster all the time is growing rather tiresome for her.

Gobang finds his older sibling wounded when he returns to his village. Dying, the sibling reveals that Naning and his henchman, Jupri, are the culprits. To protect himself, Naning, hires mercenaries. Gobang asks his teacher at another village for advice. He is advised not to take revenge, especially since his lover, Jamilla, is Jupri’s daughter. After spending sometime with his adopted sibling, Nio, Gobang returns. He does not know that the mercenaries have murdered Nio’s father. The situation in the village deteriorates. A Dutch landlord, Van Hallen, murders his best friend. Naning’s mercenary kidnaps Jamilla. And libel is spread that Gobang is the kidnapper, leading to his arrest. Nio comes to avenge his father’s death and frees Gobang from jail. But Nio is killed by Jupri, who in turn, is killed by Gobang. Then Van Hallen is killed. Watched by Jamilla, Gobang takes Nio’s body away.
