Mai Fukagawa

It is the year 1988. Yamabuki is an eight-year-old little boy growing up in a traditional family where every family member has problems and secrets they try to hide from each other. The father runs a failing construction company and has an intimate relationship with another woman. The mother is struggling with severe depression, as she cannot cope with the death of her youngest child. The grandfather, who used to be a construction engineer, hopes to start building an amusement park, but to no avail. The grandmother runs a small store where she sells items of forged origin. The sister is fed up with the lies of her predecessors and is looking for a way to run away from home. In the midst of all this chaos, Yamabuki has started to find solace in patting an imaginary dog.

Kiyoko Tachibana, a student at an integrated middle and high school for girls in Tokyo, met Akari Okusawa, who was wearing a bright blue dress, at the start of the new school year in her first year of high school. In contrast to the other students, Akari freely interacts with everyone and quickly becomes popular, and Kiyoko is attracted to her. Kiyoko's newly awakened feelings for her soon involve the whole class, and the situation develops into a disturbance.

A young couple decided to start their life together by moving to a remote village. They encounter a very supportive community that does everything it can to make them feel welcome. In spite of that and although they feel the pressure to have a child soon, there is a latent threat. In fact, the village holds a secret that will change their minds. Rural life is no longer idyllic.

Madoka meets her husband's parents, who run a 450-year-old hand fan shop in the center of Kyoto. Together with her artist friend Anzai, they start an essay manga about the traditional shops in the area. On Madoka's first day minding the store alone, she ends up giving an interview to a TV crew and angering quite a lot of people by being a bit too candid. While Madoka is enamored by Kyoto, she has quite a lot to learn about the unsaid rules and the passive-aggressiveness of the local proprietresses.

A mother searches for her missing son after a devastating calamity, only to realize that she has died and is now confined to a realm of restless spirits.

Akiko (Mai Fukagawa) is a former idol, but now lives an ordinary life. She works at a company and keeps reminding herself that she is happy and to have a fulfilling day. One day, she walks to work and falls down. She becomes stuck and unable to move. Akiko breaks down mentally and decides to quit her job. Now, Akiko doesn't have a job, a boyfriend, and only 100,000 yen (~$700 USD) in her bank account. Her friend then tells her that she should move in with 56 year old salaryman Sasapon (Arata Iura), who lives alone in his house in Tokyo. When she visits Sasapon, he invites her to stay at his house on the condition that she can live there until his retirement. Their strange living arrangement begins.

Tachibana was once in the limelight as a nature photographer famous for a TV program following his adventure but forced into debts from his agency. Alone and without dreams, he abandons his camera and spends his life paying off the debts. But one day, from taking a photo of his mother's friend, his life with a camera starts moving again. Tachibana, now in 40s, starts a studio at a share residence and seeks for his resurrection.

It was "just" a summer day spent with someone she didn't know, who was drunk and had lost her memory.

Tamio Akanishi works at a public office in Yokohama. He is going through one of the worst periods of his life, having been left by his fiancée. One day, his boss tells him to take care of a big, white dog, abandoned by its previous owner. Tamio begins to live with the dog, who doesn't bark and only makes a sound that sounds like "haw", and thus he names it Haw. While living together, the connection between the two deepens.

Taiga Kitamura, who was separated from his mother at an early age, believes that his father's selfishness in devoting himself to the rally hastened her death, and leaves for Tokyo upon entering university. While aiming to become an actor but feeling vaguely dissatisfied, he receives the sudden news of his father's death from his childhood friend Miho Uechi who lives in his hometown.
