Sometimes it takes a miracle for the attraction of opposites to work: Fabian Lauber and Janne Jarst are fascinated by each other, but couldn't be more different. In doing so, however, he offends his family, to whom he has not revealed his whereabouts: Without further ado, his children Kathi and Martl set off in search of him. In the process, they not only learn a lot about their family, but also about their native Bavaria and its various regions. Meanwhile, the Minister President who has gone into hiding has found happiness, but for better or worse he must return to the public eye in order to calm the still raging debate...

The last few years have been no walk in the park for Richard Beller. The separation from his wife and the hard work at the architecture firm have taken a lot out of him. His relationship with his 14-year-old daughter Marie has also suffered enormously as a result. She blames him for her parents' separation. To make matters worse, his 78-year-old mother Hilde has also become a "problem" for some time now, showing undeniable signs of Alzheimer's disease. She is due to move into a retirement home this weekend. Now, of all times, the most important job of his life is in danger of being canceled due to a technical problem in the office.

Nick Gutlicht lives of illegally selling valuable books, owes money to a bunch of other crooks and has to hide from them. By chance he ends up in the mansion of the famous, now very old philosopher Curt Ledig, who despite the age related forgetfulness and pathological kitchen phobia resists to move to his daughter. Nick is hired by the family as watchdog. Now Curt can work on a presentation for the upcoming symposium, which anybody thinks he's capable of anymore. Nick thinks he has an excellent hiding place. This partnership of convenience of the two individuals quickly develops its own momentum. Curt regards Nick as an exciting research object and subjects him to an absurd therapy. For Nick it's a unique opportunity to fund his finances with Curt's phenomenal library. The strange couple is going through turmoil of incalculable proportions.
