Panoramic life of a Moldovan village in the second half of the twentieth century.

Once upon a time there lived a young man who served where “enemy voices” were suppressed, wrote, and wanted to make a film. It seemed to him that complete freedom was needed in order not to let his abilities die out, so that there were no obstacles to creativity.

A young investigator undertakes to investigate another robbery. The elements of crime are obvious: a fair amount was stolen from the plant’s cash register. The investigator has two suspects — a cashier and a career criminal.

Dina is 32 years old. She is a brilliant surgeon, works in a maternity hospital, and lives alone with her sister Marga. Once in the hospital, a woman refused a child. Dina adopted a baby, and unexpected troubles changed the lives of both sisters. Meanwhile, the conscientious Marga, secretly from Dina, began to look for Seryozha's father — what if they rushed to adopt, because the father knows nothing about his son. And soon Dmitry Savich began to visit their house often. He had actually met Seryozha's mother once and was now ready to take an active part in raising his son.

The film reproduces the events of the summer of 1921, when Kotovsky, at the head of a separate cavalry brigade, completed the defeat of the Antonov counterrevolutionary rebellion in the Tambov region, destroying Matyukhin's gang.
