Ukrainian Odesa, 1926: a city recovering from the war, a city where jazz sounds and cinema is born. Young artist Sashko Dovzhenko seeks freedom in art - and stumbles upon a system that does not forgive dreams. His first film may be his last. And he does not yet know that soon his name will be known to the whole world.

A Red Army convoy transporting a large amount of cash is apparently ambushed by anarchists led by Makhno. In a twist of betrayal, the Red Army set up the attack to eliminate the anarchists. Two of the anarchists and one Red Army soldier survive, and like an American Western, they reconcile their differences to join forces against the Red Threat.

Kharkiv, the 1930s. The heyday of Ukrainian art. Ambitious young poet Vladimir Akimov happily settles in at the new luxury "Slovo" House built specifically for artists. He comes from the provinces and works as a proof-reader in a printing press, and has never even dreamed of living under one roof with prominent Ukrainian writers and artists. He thinks his own poetry is genius, but nobody takes his literary efforts seriously, not to mention the occasional chuckles over his epigone poems. But fate smiles at him. The head of the political intelligence agency suggests that he become the author of a play written earlier. Akimov agrees, signing a non- disclosure note. The poet has no idea what price he will pay for this success. “‘Slovo’ House” is a story about a generation of Ukrainian artists persecuted by the totalitarian system, unfolding against the backdrop of one of the largest genocides of the 20th century: the Holodomor, which caused the death of almost 7 million people.

Zhenya Horobchik is a Kyiv photographer originally from Zhashkiv who is much loved by women. He is looking for a job, but accidentally finds a new love. Zhenya already has a wife and a son, and an ex-wife and a bunch of problems. He's torn between them and decides he'd rather be under a train than go on like this.

Year 2015. Hanna (mother) and Darka (girlfriend) are united by the memories of Danya, who died in 2014 on the Maidan. Hanna's life path went from a Maidan activist in 2004 to a high-level government official. Through the relationship between the two women, it turns out that Hanna was associated with the corruption that led to mafia revenge in Ukraine in 2010, and ended up the Revolution of Dignity in 2014. Hanna is increasingly convinced that her personal actions are linked to her son's death.

Galya does not give a shit about the Great War of Russia against Ukraine. The war is a thousand kilometers away from her village, lost in the middle of the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains. A small village, a tiny church, microscopic people with their huge problems.

Who will be the assassin to attack the Opryshko whose immense strength and bravery inspired folk tales? Will the lords' treacherous plan destroy the hero before he can lead his people to freedom?

Mykola is an eccentric pacifist who wants to be useful to humanity. When the war begins in Donbas, Mykola’s naive world is collapsing as the militants kill his pregnant wife and burn his home to the ground. Recovered, he makes a cardinal decision and gets enlisted in a sniper company. Having met his wife’s killers, he emotionally breaks down and arranges “sniper terror” for the enemy.

Worse than being lonely is to be lonely next to someone you love… Waking up one morning, the young woman feels deep loneliness, which can only be dispelled by the embrace of her beloved husband. Not receiving it, she runs away from home for a day. Leaving her own problem unspoken in front of the real-life dramas she wanders around the city ready to be embraced by any stranger she meets. That stranger turns out to be her ex-lover whom she hasn’t seen for a long time...
