Sreeni, a simpleton has a high paying job in Bangalore. His mother, who is traditional to the core, is looking for the perfect match for him. Sreeni is a butt of the joke among his female colleagues and they tease him by pretending to flirt with him. The leader among them is Nimisha. Their relationship is purely platonic. Meanwhile, his mother succeeds in finding a traditional girl in Abhirami; brought up in an Aghraharam. Later, Nimisha realizes all on a sudden one day, that she had been long in love with Sreeni. Abhi, on the other hand has her own personal battles to deal with, since she had always been in love with Ambi.

Valluvanar is an upright political leader in Tamil Nadu much respected for his honesty and uprightness. And he refuses to compromise on this trait even when his only son Kamban finds himself in jail for no fault of his. The opposition party takes advantage of the situation and bails out Kamban, who joins this party much to his father's embarrassment. The media laps it up sensationalizing it further. Then Kamban decides to leave the country until things cool down. Only his mother Vasuki with whom he is close is aware of this plan. Kamban arrives at Sri Lanka where he be-friend's Banerjee, a Bengali and stays with him. One day he finds a Tamil book on the beach which he traces to Shilpa the owner of the book, who is a college student preparing for the civil services examination. The film juggles between reality and fiction, where Theepori, the fictitious father image of Kamban advises him to fall in love. The rest of the story is about the emotional conflict between her career and love.

Kissan movie tells Balaraman Thampuran is the feudal lord who rules the roost in Thekkeppatt Kovilakam. He is the personification of all that is evil with the feudal system. He is cruel and treats the peasants as his personal slaves, making them work on his farm lands for a pittance. Devan (Biju Menon) who is the son of Savithri who also belongs to the Kovilakam. He has just returned after higher studies in London. As per family tradition he is to marry the daughter of Balaraman. Devan believes all men are equal and must not be segregated along the lines of cast or creed. He renews friendship with Velu (Kalabhavan MAni) who is his childhood playmate, who belongs to the lowly Dalit class.

Saraswathiyamma is the head of a noble family that treats her servant Krishnan as one of her own sons. When her relatives conspire to sell her house, she and Krishnan set out to save it.
