The King Who Raved was created by Ramos Carrión, Vital Aza and Chapí in 1891; it is a milestone in the history of lyric theatre and on the stage of the Teatro de la Zarzuela. For few kings, not even the most popular kings of history, nor those most loved by their people, will have been so acclaimed, so applauded, or so hoorayed as our King in this kingdom of La Zarzuela.

With this new production by the Teatro de la Zarzuela, the Italian stage director Davide Livermore and the British musical director Karel Mark Chichon show us a series of pictures of customs that shine through in Luisa Fernanda.

One of the most popular zarzuelas by Amadeu Vives, directed by Lluís Pasqual and starring María José Moreno and Celso Albelo.

Lyric comedy in three acts. New production from El Teatro de la Zarzuela, in co-production with Gran Teatre del Liceu and Ópera de Lausanne. Broadcast live from Teatro de la Zarzuela on May 29, 2019.

Musical comedy in two acts. A vaudeville theatre where nobody wants to show who they are for fear of exposing what they lack.

The oppressive atmosphere before a storm and the tragic fate of a tormented young woman form the indivisible elements of "Katia Kabanova". The opera's action is set in a small Russian village around 1860 and represents the annihilation and subsequent suicide of Katerina Kabanova, a sensitive young woman married to a weak man and bullied by her mother-in-law, who is searching for liberation through love and ends her life consumed by remorse for her infidelity. The story's common denominator is the Volga river, a witness of the main character's hapless family relations and her frustrated passion, and in whose merciful waters she finally finds peace. The adaptation into the Czech language of Ostrovsky's tragic play "The Storm" allowed Janáček to create one of his most outstanding operas, in which the conciseness and intensity of the musical language are merged with the dramatic force of his libretto. This is the Teatro Madrid Production Recorded in December, 2008.
