Klaus and Carla, two young people whose personalities are as different as night and day, are hired for a week-long trial period as salespersons for Telematic International, a computer company. They must conclude ten contracts before the company hires them permanently. This proves to be more difficult than they assumed, partly because Klaus and Carla despise each other.

Hoteliers Otto and Ludwig König run a luxury hotel at Munich's Viktualienmarkt. They are surprised by a visit from their rich sister Nane, owner of the Hotel Sacher in Vienna: she wants to marry for the fifth time and this immediately causes alarm among the brothers. The future husband, Dr. Brösel, is put under the microscope.

A retail store owner in a mall fights to cope with her family and customers at the same time that she is threatened with the loss of her lease.

The film consists of several small episodes that take place in and around Munich.

Delegates and workmen from China appear in a small Bavarian village to dismantle and ship to their country parts of a shut-down industrial plant. Four Bavarian labourers are supposed to assist them in their efforts, and in spite of cultural differences and language barriers this rather unusual encounter of two cultures seems to go pretty well.

Stalingrad, 1942: just as he is complaining about the "blockheads" who are in control, a German named Herbert gets hit. Fast forward forty years after the war to Munich's Hofgarten, where in front of the patched-up ruins of the Army Museum, Herbert reappears, mistakenly believing he is still in Stalingrad, which the victorious Germans have destroyed and rebuilt in the image of Munich.
