In a Valencian village, during the postwar period, Ana tries to get ahead with her family; the civil war has opened a deep wound in all of them, especially in her brother-in-law, Antonio. Ana tries to heal that wound with stews, secrets and silences, but when Isabel, newly married to Antonio, comes to the family, Ana’s attention and care will be worth little or nothing: the sacrifice does not always have its reward.

After the Spanish Civil War, Carmela joins the militias alongside thousands of other women. Her struggle is twofold: to confront fascism and defend the freedoms won during the Second Republic. In combat, a homemade grenade amputates the hand with which she had held her ideals and her weapon in defense of her rights.

Rural Catalonia, 16th century. A quack doctor arrives in a village to cure the mayor's son, but a local healer warns him that a curse is hanging over them.

Spain, April 15, 1939. With the Civil War concluded, and with the intention of celebrating his victory, General Franco attends a dinner with his generals at the Palace Hotel.

María is 30, has an intellectual disability, and a deep desire: to be a mother. The lack of understanding from her family and the foundation where she lives will lead her to fight for her rights, to an uncomfortable rebellion to regain control over her own body.
