The Soviet war film tells the story of the last raid by the Ukrainian partisan division named after S. A. Kovpak, led by P. P. Vershigora, into enemy territory in 1943-1944, its advance to the state border between the USSR and Poland, and its international assistance to the Polish people in their liberation from the fascist invaders.

Successful film director Dmitry Pavlovich must fly by plane to Moscow and then to Rome. But the phone rings in his house and he is told that his old mother, who lives in Melovatka, his native village, has fallen ill. Dmitry Pavlovich hires a taxi and begins his “autumn journey to his mother.”

Lovers Edgar and Lucia dream of happiness, but Lucia's brother Henry is preparing her marriage to another man. He forces his sister to sign a marriage contract and enter into an open fight with Edgar.

1942 Wounded, bleeding, but defiant Sevastopol is subjected to continuous bombing and artillery shelling.
