A young French boy deals with the effects of war. Conflicts arise as his trusted neighbor and advisor is taken away by the Germans and the boy loses respect for his father, who tries to appease the German soldiers lodging in the family home.

Antoine Rethel, a police inspector, meets a young woman to whom he has just prevented a traffic accident.To thank him, she invites him to drink at her house.She commits suicide a few moments later in the bathroom with her service weapon.Antoine swears to himself that he won't say a word about this dirty story and returns home. The next day, driven by curiosity, he decides to return to the scene of the tragedy...surprise, the corpse is no longer there...Antoine is not at the end of his troubles...the next day, he returns to the house and discovers another corpse in the bathtub...little by little, he sinks into a crazy story full of murders...He must hurry to elucidate the murders before it's too late.

After seeing the initial passion and romance fade into a series of routine and boring relationships, Alexandre (Vincent Perez) concludes that romance ends when sex enters into a relationship. Determined to prevent this from happening with his latest love-interest—a sexy young woman named Fanfan (Sophie Marceau)—he decides that platonic love is the solution. Despite the wonderful, romantic, and inventive ways Alexandre finds for them to spend time together, Fanfan is left disappointed by his refusal to make love to her. Their exciting relationship becomes jeopardized by Alexandre's unwillingness to change his new approach to love.

In this conventional, broadly comic farce of greed and royal matrimony, nearly bankrupt businessman Victor Harris is marrying Maria-Helena, a princess who comes with a dowry that is made up of one half of her island kingdom. Her father, the cowardly King Arnold III is counting on the money this marriage will bring him. The country is now almost bankrupt because of the king's gambling debts. As Harris and the king look forward to their illusory profits from the royal merger, other characters add some liveliness to the otherwise predictable story.
