The film follows in the wake of young Rosa who flees bomb-stricken Berlin in the autumn of 1943 and heads to a small, isolated village near the eastern border. This is where her in-laws live and where her husband, who’s deployed on the front, has advised she take shelter until the war ends and he returns. Rosa soon discovers that this seemingly sleepy village conceals a secret: in the forest bordering the hamlet is Hitler’s headquarters, the Wolf’s Lair.

South Tyrol, 1961: Paul was hoping to escape the confines of his village and study painting. But because his older brother Anton is a wanted terrorist, he’s forced to stay at the farm and help Anton’s wife, Anna, and their son. As Paul is drawn into a vortex of violence and toxic masculinity, Anna struggles with the radicalization of her husband and the patriarchal structures in place at the time.

The first date between Marcello and Herman turns into a game in which every action is dictated by rolling a mystical dice. A powerful feeling begins to arise between the two, but how long can a relationship entirely based on fate last?
