An unexpected love affair quickly blossoms between aspiring down-on-his-luck reporter Salah (Abdel Halim Hafez) and the subject of his first newspaper scoop, a pretty young heiress (Zubaida Tharwat)who's soon to be forced into an arranged marriage.

The film revolves around Aida (Madiha Yousry) who loves her cousin, the officer Ahmed (Emad Hamdy), and he reciprocates the same feelings. Her father (Serag Mounir) refuses to let her marry him and threatens to destroy his future. He marries her against her will to the son of the Prime Minister so that he can benefit from his father's influence. Ahmed's hope of marrying Aida is lost, so he marries another woman, but she soon dies while Aida discovers her husband's betrayal.

A lawyer defends his friend, but loses his innocence document at the bar and the friend is convicted. The lawyer gets involved in a relationship with a mistress and leaves his wife, whom he blames for losing the document. Mistress is murdered and the wife's lawyer is accused of killing her. He comes back to his senses and tries to prove his wife's innocence.

Khadiga lives in a poor neighborhood with her parents. She tries to save up money so she could marry her sweetheart Taha. Taha buys a lottery ticket in hope of winning a lot of money, but it ends up in Khadiga's religious father's hands who throws it away. The ticket gets picked up by the town's fool, who gets lucky and wins, driving the town into chaos.
