At the early fifties in Syria, a man meets Salama, Mustafa, Hussein, and Youssef, all of whom oppose the dictatorial authority, when he is thrown into a political prison due to a misunderstanding, after which he finds himself in a place other than what he imagined, living in a difficult intellectual struggle.

A love story is born between the poor student Tarek and Amal the wealthy girl, they face a lot of financial problems, while her father wants her to marry the rich man Ashraf. Amal escapes and marries Tarek, but their struggle still continues.

Samir is deeply in love with Hanan but he is unable to reveal his impotence to her in a merciless society that sees him as less than a man. When he kills himself after their honeymoon, Hanan falls for his friend Kamal, but this relationship has its own share of struggles.

While on the run from some people, Osama seeks refuge in a remote guesthouse run by Mansour, a miserly old man, and his wife Salma, a young and beautiful dancer. An illicit relationship develops between Osama and Salma, and she tempts him to kill her husband in order to seize his wealth and freely enjoy their love. However, Mansour’s daughter arrives to spend her school vacation, and when Osama sees her, his life changes completely.
