The main event of the evening is a much-anticipated rematch between Rizin women’s super atomweight grand-prix winner Kanna Asakura and highly decorated Shoot Boxing champion Rena “RENA” Kubota. In addition to the headliner, The Ultimate Fighter 24 finalist and current Shooto world champion Hiromasa Ogikubo gets his chance for redemption against Japanese superstar Kyoji Horiguchi.

RIZIN 13 will be the promotions biggest event to date from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. Following the tragic loss of Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto this month, two generational talents from their respective combat sports will compete in a clash featuring two of Japan’s best. Yamamoto’s protege Kyoji Horiguchi will strap on the big gloves when he crosses over into kickboxing to take on undefeated 20-year-old phenom Tenshin Nasukawa. In addition to the headliner, Mirko Cro Cop returns against streaking heavyweight Roque Martinez, former Invicta FC atomweight champ Ayaka Hamasaki meets DEEP titleholder Mina Kurobe, and former UFC fighters Diego Brandão and Daron Cruickshank will clash at lightweight.

UFC 195: Lawler vs. Condit was a mixed martial arts event held on January 2, 2016 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

UFC Fight Night 75: Barnett vs. Nelson was a mixed martial arts event held on September 27, 2015, at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. The event was headlined by a heavyweight bout between former UFC Heavyweight champion Josh Barnett and The Ultimate Fighter 10 heavyweight winner Roy Nelson. Both men had coached opposite each other on the show Road to UFC: Japan.

UFC on Fox 15: Machida vs. Rockhold was a mixed martial arts event held on April 18, 2015, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The event was the sixth event that the UFC has hosted in Newark, New Jersey and was headlined by a middleweight bout between former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida and former Strikeforce Middleweight champion Luke Rockhold.

UFC Fight Night 46: McGregor vs. Brandão was a mixed martial arts event held on July 19, 2014, at The O2 in Dublin, Ireland. The event was expected to be headlined by a featherweight bout between Conor McGregor and Cole Miller. However, Miller was forced to pull out due to an injury, and was replaced by Diego Brandão. Despite the change with one of the headlining participants, ticket demand was high for the event, with nearly all tickets selling out within a few hours of going on sale.

UFC on Fuel TV 9: Mousasi vs. Latifi was a mixed martial arts event held on April 6, 2013, at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.

UFC Fight Night 26: Shogun vs. Sonnen was a mixed martial arts event held on August 17, 2013, at the TD Garden in Boston. The main event was contested between former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Maurício Rua and Chael Sonnen.

UFC 168: Weidman vs. Silva 2 was a mixed martial arts event held on December 28, 2013, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event was headlined by a UFC Middleweight Championship rematch between current champion Chris Weidman and former champion Anderson Silva. The two previously met at UFC 162, with Weidman winning via KO in the second round and earning the title.

UFC 153: Silva vs. Bonnar was a mixed martial arts pay-per-view event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on October 13, 2012, at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
