Marumalarchi is a 1998 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Marumalarchi Bharathi.

Arun falls in love at first sight with a bank cashier Seetha and follow her everywhere. Seetha refuses his love and tells him her past. In the past, Seetha was from a middle-class family. Seetha's brother-in-law was a jobless, and lived with them. Balu was a bank manager and falls in love with Seetha. Mani, Balu's father, a miser, looked for a rich daughter-in-law. Finally, Balu got married with Seetha and the same day, Balu died in a crossfire. So Mani refused to keep Seetha in his house. Later, without money, Mani begged Seetha to come with him and she took her late husband job. Seetha's brother-in-law took his wife's thaali and tied the thaali to Seetha. She immediately removed the thaali. Arun decides to marry her despite her past. The court cancels the marriage between Seetha and her brother-in-law. Seetha's sister kills her husband to save Seetha's marriage. At the end, Arun and Seetha get married.

Bharathi, who works for a rich man, and Kannama, the daughter of a rich landlord, fall in love. Kannama commits suicide by burning herself as she cannot marry Bharathi because of their caste difference.

Sethu falls in love with the village head's daughter. However, things are not all that smooth, as his elder brother is given the responsibility of protecting the girl's honour until she is married.

Avuthu Nayagam, a wealthy politician, remarries Vasantha, a cunning woman. She creates problems in her stepson Veeraiyan's life and tries to grab the land from the villagers at meagre rates.

Shanmuga Pandian is a kind-hearted person and respected estate owner, he lives with his father Selvanayagam and mother Lakshmi and sister Sumathi. Shanmuga Pandian and Divya fall in love with each other. At Sumathi's wedding, Selvanayagam is falsely arrested for suppliyng weapons to terrorists. Thereafter, Sumathi's wedding is immediately stopped, Lakshmi becomes paralyzed and Divya refuses to marry him only because Shanmuga Pandian became poor. Nandhini hires Shanmuga Pandian in her company but her father considers Selvanayagam as his nemesis. Shanmuga Pandian and Nandhini fall in love with each other. The conspiracy against Selvanayagam was in fact planned by the corrupt politician P.K.R and his son Vasu. Later, Divya gets married with Vasu but the sadistic Vasu tortures Divya. The rest of the story is Shanmuga Pandian proves his father's innocence and revenge the villains with the help of Divya and Nandhini.

Moorthy is a lorry driver, who lives with his mother Ramaatha and often confronts the criminal Govindan. Moorthy and Uma fall in love with each other. One day, her father has a heart attack, when Moorthy and Uma rush him to the hospital the roads were blocked by a local political party. Her father unfortunately dies, the angry Moorthy clashes with the political party leader Sigamani in public. Later, Govindan joins his party and stands in election as well as Moorthy. In the meantime, Moorthy and Uma get married. The corrupt politician Sigamani orders to kill Govindan and blames the innocent Moorthy. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.

Sirusu (Jayaram) and his elder brother Perusu (Goundamani) are the trouble makers of the village who own a cinema theatre and they are bachelors. For several years, his family are in feud with Parameswaran's family because Sirasu's father killed Parameswaran's brother and Sirasu's sister, Saratha got married with Parameswaran's relative secretly. Saratha (Sangeetha), comes from Mumbai with her husband (Jaiganesh) and her daughter, Indhu (Kushboo). Sirasu falls immediately in love with Indhu, but Ratnam (Kazan Khan) and his father Parameswaran (Vinu Chakravarthy ) proposes to Saratha's husband to marry Ratnam to his daughter. Can Sirasu triumph in his love? will the two feuding family unite?

Velayudham leaves his village in hopes of finding a job to return and marry his lover. However, things get complicated when the daughter of the man who gives him a job falls in love with Velayudham.

Murali, a playful youngster, makes quick money by challenging others. But when one of his challenges goes haywire, it ruins a girl's wedding, and he decides to make it up to her.
