Opera singer Maria Seydlitz has just left her fiancé because he put her between the choice of husband or profession when she receives a telegram from New York: an unknown person hires her for a large fee at the theater Maria accepts the offer... The film is based on the novel of the same name by Hans Rudolf Berndorff. The film was shot from July to September 1936 on the Neubabelsberg outdoor area and on the passenger ship "Bremen“. Georg Alexander plays Douglas Mavis, the son of a rich English family who falls in love with a Berlin girl (Renate Müller) and marries her. Further complications arise when the family lawyer (Adolf Wohlbrück) gets to know the Berlin lady without knowing who she is. An impoverished count has to work as a chauffeur but because of his good looks attracts women, one of them wealthy enough to solve his problem.

When Albers takes his drug-addicted opera star sister Gerda to a sanitarium, they both become targets of slimy dope peddler Peter Lorre, who fears that Gerda will blow the whistle on him. Lorre kidnaps the woman, leading Albers on a frantic chase.

A dedicated editor, who is engaged to the daughter of a wealthy senator thrills her father with a lecture about convictions based on circumstantial evidence. When a corpse with a disfigured face is found in the house of the senator, evidence points to the editor. An entertaining thriller with a fairly intricate plot and some critical comments on the practice of the law. Based on the novel "Der geschlossene Ring" by Frank Arnau.

Bill's girlfriend Lore is an art student in Berlin. Since her professor doesn't think much of painting women, she exchanges a genuine Raphael painting in a gallery for a copy made by her. In a spectacular theft, the copy is stolen. Detective Keller suspects Bill and Lore. But Bill, who is a talented quick-change artist, keeps escaping arrest by constantly altering his appearance.
