The event featured a Quarter-Final round bout in the Bellator Welterweight World Grand Prix between Michael Page and Paul Daley in the main event. On January 10, 2019 it was reported that a welterweight bout between Erick Silva and Yaroslav Amosov was added to the event. The pair previously fought seven-and-a-half years ago at UFC 137.

Erick Silva was expected to make his promotional debut at this event facing Lorenz Larkin in a Welterweight World Grand Prix alternate bout, but Silva pulled out due to injury. He was replaced by the Romanian fighter Ion Pascu.

Bellator 183: Henderson vs. Pitbull took place on September 23, 2017 at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. The event aired live in prime time on Spike TV. The main event featured a Lightweight bout between Benson Henderson and Patricky Freire. Also occurring on the show is Bellator Kickboxing 7 headlined by bantamweight title bout between Kevin Ross and Domenico Lomurno.

UFC Fight Night 90: Dos Anjos vs. Alvarez was a mixed martial arts event held on July 7, 2016 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event was headlined by a UFC Lightweight Championship bout between then-champion Rafael dos Anjos and former two-time Bellator Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez.
