Joshua, a young foreigner traveling in Japan. Yamagishi, an elderly man in a car. The two are heading to their own destinations. When the two meet, despite not being able to speak the same language, their hearts begin to move. This is a work that explores the importance of being able to communicate without words, beyond the barriers of age and nationality.

Residents in a town have a hard time due to the land tax and forced labor. 9 people, including Juzaburo Kokutaya (Sadao Abe), worry about the future of their town. They then set up a plan to save the town. The plan is to lend large amounts of money to han (historical term for the estate of a warrior) and distribute the interest annually to the residents, but if they're caught they will lose their lives.

Goro is an archeologist, fascinated with the national treasure Gassho clay figure and remains from the Jomon period. He meets a woman, Momoko who is timid with love. Momoko often has memories from ancient times and landscapes of the heart in her dreams. She tells Goro about her dream and their relationship deepens.

Amidst the chaos, Kumagoro manages to escape from the squad. Four years later, Seizo’s widow, Onobu, is raising her young son, Yusomatsu, single-handedly while running a small tea shop. One day, she helps a traveling merchant named Shintaro, who collapses from a sudden illness in front of her shop. The two soon fall in love and promise to start a family together. Shintaro leaves on a business trip and promises to return in a few days. Right after his departure, Onobu is shocked to see a wanted poster delivered by the Arson and Theft Investigation Squad… Kumagoro’s face on the poster is the spitting image of Shintaro.

Based on a short story by Seichi Matsumoto from 1956 and remake from the 1957 movie of the same name, the story is about an actor who has the opportunity to become a success but 9 years earlier, he had killed a woman with whom he was involved and there was an eyewitness to the murder.

Hama-chan goes to Okayama to look for Su-san when he goes missing a few days after freezing up during his inaugural speech as the company chairman.

Hama-chan takes a vacation to go fishing in Akita despite warnings from Su-san as his company faces a restructuring process.

Mr. Takano, a company employee, announces plans to take an early retirement so he can return to his home town and spend his days fishing. Su-san and Hama-chan envy his decision, and Hama-chan conspires to visit Takano, even though he has no vacation time left.
