Bas and Aad van Toor started as acrobat duo The Crocksons, but became the most popular children's duo in the Netherlands as clown Bassie and acrobat Adriaan.

Incredibly enough, one day before the start of his pension and just hours before his 65th birthday, window cleaner Alfred suddenly finds himself stricken by vertigo. A 64-year and 364-day journey through glass and lather reveals why he is afraid to either go up or go down the ladder. And whilst he finds himself to be an accidental Cupid by hitting anyone but himself with his arrows, it’s not until that particular day, 44 years after meeting Dirkje for the first time, that he realizes he has to point the arrow at himself.

An unknown man asks Bassie & Adriaan if they want to track down packages in the Netherlands and France. To find the packages, they first have to solve strange riddles. On their quest to find the packages, they travel throughout the Netherlands and France and discover beautiful and interesting places. But they don't notice that the Baron, Handy Harry, and B100 are trying to lure them into an ambush. And so begins an exciting adventure!

Bassie & Adriaan travel all over the most beautiful parts of Great Britain, looking for a package. B100 is looking for Bassie & Adriaan, but has no luck. Just as he finds them, they travel on to Portugal. There they follow the path that a grape must take to become port wine. Via the capital Lisbon, they arrive in the wine region. From there, they take a special boat to Porto and discover some remarkable things. But they don't realize that the Baron is preparing a trap...

Bassie & Adriaan fly in a seaplane, sail in a canoe, and ride in a covered wagon through beautiful Irish countryside to track down a package. On their quest, they not only discover that Ireland is very beautiful, but Bassie also meets some mysterious little men. The adventure becomes even more exciting when they receive a letter telling them to go to Italy. Because that's where the Baron and Handy Harry are also preparing for an ambush!

Bassie & Adriaan go in search of a package in Germany, which Bassie likes because he fancies a trip along the Rhine. But Bassie doesn't realize that Handy Harry has built a transmitter into his Walkman and that the crooks can now follow him on a special screen. The crooks also see that Bassie & Adriaan are traveling to Greece. There, they have to track down a package with the help of a sailboat. This allows them to see a lot of Greece, but they don't know that there is a diver under their boat, which could be very dangerous!

Bassie & Adriaan are in Denmark. There they will receive the package from the hands of a children's friend, but who is that? When Bassie sees a Viking ship during his search through Denmark, he thinks he is dreaming. But when he suddenly sees B100, he knows he is wide awake. After Denmark, Bassie & Adriaan go to Belgium. On their way there, they are having a great time. They are traveling in a hot air balloon. From the balloon, they look out over beautiful Belgian towns and villages. But they don't see that B100 is preparing an ambush under the balloon...

When Bassie & Adriaan are in Madrid, they hear that the package must be somewhere near Valencia. They travel there immediately. But the Baron is there first and is preparing a nasty plan. And what kind of plan is that? Bassie and Adriaan find out when they arrive in Luxembourg after many wanderings. There, they not only meet the Baron, B100, and Handy Harry, but they also find out who the mysterious client is.

Constant Wegman (Benja Bruijning), a 14 year old boy, raised by his grandmother (Carry Tefsen) in Zeedijk, Amsterdam. She is the owner of a cafe-hotel “De Rode Laars” (“The Red Boots”). The dreaming Constant runs away from this world of drunkards, gamblers, fighters by writing poems. His grandmother wants him to take control of the cafe. Then Constant secretly subscribes to a national poem writing competition: a new Vondel is born!
